Bank Manager Qualifications

Education
It is still possible to become a bank manager without earning a formal degree, but a college degree is an increasingly expected job qualification. A good start for a prospective bank manager would be a bachelors degree in finance, economics, accounting, or business.

Abilities
The most important qualification for becoming a bank manager is having a thorough understanding of banking operations. Potential bank managers must be committed to learning the inner working of the banking system. Obviously, management skills are another must have. A bank manager needs to be a skilled communicator and proficient in promotion, sales, and marketing. Good networking skills can go a long way to advance an entry level career towards management. Get to know the tellers, bankers, and management throughout the company.

Experience
Bank managers are rarely hired fresh out of college. Most banking companies prefer applicants with at least three to seven years of experience. Management positions are often filled from within the organization, so loyalty and proficiency at even an entry level position is very important in working towards the goal of becoming qualified to be a potential bank manager.
